What are the benefits of sensory play?

Sensory play is any type of play that stimulates the senses. Stacks of research show the benefits of sensory play for children (from babies to school-age!). From the Calgary Library's website:

"Did you know that sensory play lays an important foundation for your child’s learning? It encourages brain development, open-ended thinking, fine motor skill building, and even language learning."

How are shipping rates calculated?

The shipping cost is INCLUDED in the price of moat items. Shipping rates are based on the dimensions and weight of your total order. Items that are relatively flat and under 500g (e.g.: resin alphabets) can be shipped via Canada Post letter mail at no extra charge. These envelopes are NOT tracked, but it is the cheapest option.

Bulkier and heavier products need to be shipped as a parcel - and that can get pricey. If your total order weighs between 500 - 5,000g it will be shipped at a $15 flat rate (so you should max-out that weight limit!).

Any recommendations to make our sensory play less messy / more fun?

Of course! To contain the mess:

-Lay out a towel and place the bin on top - this will better define the play area

-Set up an outdoor play space on the grass / deck / on a washable picnic blanket on warmer days

-Plunk your kid and sensory bin in an empty bathtub (put the plug down!)

-Put your sensory bin inside of a larger, shallow bin

-Get a cheap pop-up ball pit and put your bin inside that (or borrow one from us at no cost, pending availability)

-Regularly remind the kid that all bases and toys must stay in the bin / play area.

-Have your kid help with any clean-up!

To enhance their play:

-Change the play location (e.g. outside; in a dark room with a flashlight)

-Draw a picture to use as a back drop or play mat

-Add in various recyclables (e.g. toilet paper rolls; egg carton)

-Switch up the included little tools for kitchen wares (e.g. spatulas; ice cream scoop)

-Add some little toys / figurines / containers from your own collection

-Hide small items in the sensory base to find and sort

-Purchase some resin add-ons for alphabet / counting practice
